Exciting times at Ackerman Studios, we've been busy, planning and launching some gorgeous shows across London and LA, with plenty more to come.

In LA, we opened Bird Watchers by Nathan Mabry at Hotel Bel-Air and Silhouette by Arthur Elgort at The Beverly Hills Hotel in collaboration with CURA Art. We also hosted Women of Culture for a beautiful walkthrough of A Conversation on Color: Susan Vecsey and Yvonne Thomas, in collaboration with Berry Campbell Gallery, before the exhibition came down.

Over in London, we hosted an in-conversation with Ann Hicks and Dan Baldwin as part of his solo exhibition Fragmented Landscapes at 45 Park Lane, now exhibiting until 13th September. Frieze is gearing up to be an eventful week, and we're hosting multiple events across London, which we will share more on closer to the time! 

Away from the exhibition programme, we've been busy acquiring a large span of work across projects and it has been exciting and exhilarating to secure these remarkable pieces for our clients. We've also placed some wonderful works through galleries and artists with private collectors.

Finally, our new series, ‘Studio Sits with’, launches here. We'll be speaking with artists whose works we and admire and have recently placed, and we can't wait to share the first one with Bethany Holmes with you!

Bethany welcomes me into her studio in rural Essex. She is warm, candid, and refreshingly unguarded. Her paintings, large and visceral and alive with colour, fill the space around us. 

Before we begin, I find myself complimenting her website. She laughs and tells me about the process of writing her artist statement.

“I got Matt Retallick to write what is basically my artist statement. I think with artists we have everything up in our heads and we're so passionate and enthused about our own work, but I could just never get those things down on paper. I didn't want it to be some AI rubbish, so I sat with Matt for about two hours and he interviewed me, which was like therapy, really. It was so interesting to zoom in on why I actually do things.”

It's a fitting place to begin. Because for Bethany, the why behind her practice is everything.

Silhouette: Arthur Elgort at The Beverly Hills Hotel, Los Angeles, 10th June - 27th September.

Silhouette celebrates over five decades of Arthur Elgort's pioneering fashion photography, work that transformed the genre from studio formality into something candid and alive. Spanning fashion, portraiture, and travel, the exhibition explores the colour, movement, and effortless elegance that define his lens, featuring iconic images of Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and more. Presented at The Beverly Hills Hotel, it is a fitting home for photographs that so perfectly capture a world of style and refinement.

Bird Watchers: Nathan Mabry at The Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles, 19th June - 4th October.

Bird Watchers, in collaboration with Royale Projects and CURA Art, is comprised of seven stainless steel works by Nathan Mabry (b. 1978). The exhibition unfolds as a sculptural scavenger hunt across the Hotel Bel-Air’s lush, cinematic landscape: smaller pieces nestled within dense foliage, and large-scale sculptures anchoring the grounds as visual landmarks. Known for his irreverent blending of art historical references with playful subversion, Mabry's hybrid bird sculptures, part observer, part participant, transform the act of looking into something reciprocal, drawing guests into a quiet dialogue between object, environment, and self.

Fragmented Landscapes at 45 Park Lane, London, 1st May - 13th September.

Extended for the summer at 45 Park Lane, this exhibition showcases Baldwin's range across multiple mediums, from intimate works on paper to large-scale canvases and ceramics. A painter, printmaker and ceramicist, Baldwin demonstrates a unique style, blending abstract and figurative elements which reflect both reality and imagination. The show unites new work with familiar elements as Baldwin continues to explore internal worlds and imagined landscapes, reflecting on human existence, life and love.
